These pants were inspired by martial arts uniforms, the sole purpose of which is to allow the greatest range of motion as well as durability for hard use and grapling. Just in case you haven’t spent much time on the judo or karate mat recently, “do-gi” roughly translates to “uniform for your path,” or clothes to wear as you train in your practice. Basically, we find that if pants meet the qualification to perform well in a dojo, then they are going to be supremely comfortable for outdoor activities and everyday use. It doesn’t hurt that they also look really cool.
Fabric Note
Moleskin fabric has a long history in hunting and military use. A lighter-weight alternative to denim or canvas, cotton moleskin has a tight weave made of thick threads which results in high wind-resistance and durability. Despite the decidedly rugged nature of its exterior, the brushed, soft interior of the fabric makes it comfortable for long term wear. Battenwear is proud of using fabrics that get better with use and age, and we are excited to wear this military moleskin until it develops a fine patina.
